November 10, 2019 - SoCal Sword and Buckler Symposium

Join LAHMAS on November 10, 2019 from 12–5 p.m. for the inaugural SoCal Sword and Buckler Symposium!

This event aims to join the greater Los Angeles area in a celebration and discussion of the art of sword and buckler fencing as described within the MS I.33 Walpurgis fencing manuscript. There will be a series of classes taught by Joe Cantore of Kron Los Angeles (A HEMA Alliance Affilate), Jeff Jacobson of Tattershall School of Defense, and Chris Vivo of Academy Of European Fighting Arts, Burbank CA.

Following the classes, all participants will be invited to join in free play. Awards will be given to those who embody the spirit of the priest! We will also go out for food and drink to a local eatery for talky times.

Registration: $40 if you register in advance, and $35 for HEMA Alliance and Tattershall members. Tickets will be $45 for those who don't register and show up on the day, as long as there is still room.

Please reserve a spot in advance by e-mailing raker@lahistoricalmartialarts.com. In the e-mail, please indicate whether you are a HEMA Alliance member, and any club affiliation you have. We will accept cash or Venmo on the event day.

Equipment: Bring as much appropriate gear as you may need for drilling and sparring. Some loaner swords and bucklers may be available.

About LAHMAS

We create events that aim to sharpen existing skills, introduce new ideas, and provide forward growth for all participants. LAHMAS is designed to help fencers with personalized training goals. Rather than establishing our own school, we aim to supplement the training of fencers from various clubs by providing workshops, small-group training sessions, and interactions that mix communities from different fencing backgrounds.
