Our Instructors

Founded in 2000 and incorporated in 2003, the Tattershall School of Defense has an established history of research, training & education. Our instructors are well versed in rapier, side sword, sword & buckler, smallsword, longsword, dusack, single stick, and saber sword play from a number of different time periods and cultures. We encourage any of our students that want to teach, to do so. We support them on their journey to become the next generation of TSD instructors.

Harnischfechten and Armor as Worn

Fighting in Armor (or Full Harness) can change how one approaches a fight with hand weapons. This style of combat is readily depicted in medieval combat treatises and fechtbuchs (fight-books) with techniques and strategies on what works and what doesn’t against an armored opponent. We practice and apply these techniques in Deeds of Arms and other opportunities.
